This page was created to document our experience in buying and building a new home. That is to say, a home that isn't built yet, but the core designs are there and we just pick the options we want, including rooms, interiors, etc. Everything started back in January 2003 as we were searching for a house. Originally the plan was to just buy an existing home somewhere between DC (where I would expect my next job to be should my current job come to an end) and Baltimore (where Betty's job is). Lo and behold we stumble across a new community called Sumner Grove in Laurel, MD. We looked at an existing home there and didn't particularly like it, but we did like the area and the community. As it turns out they are opening phase two of the development (phase one consisted of 48 homes completed late 2001). We weren't quite yet ready for home building from scratch, but weren't having much luck in our home buying looking for an existing place, so this seemed the ideal compromise between the two. What transpires from there is what these pages are all about.

So, from here, you can either:

As for us, we're just a couple of working folk that are tired of renting... I'm by no means a graphic designer, so don't expect anything fancy :) Enjoy... And for anyone coming to this site with an interest in Magruder Co's new Nicholson Farm community, I hope these pages at least give you an idea of what you're in for...
